The Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Kitui County in collaboration with Centre for Health Solutions (CHS) is advertising for the vacancies below (11 months renewable contract). Successful candidates will be working within Kitui County under the direct supervision of the Sub-County Medical Officers of Health (SCMOHs) and CHS Technical Officers.

Komarock Modern Healthcare Jobs

Komarock Modern Healthcare is a private hospital that has two branches in Nairobi. One, a level 3 facility in Komarock Estate Sector 3A which was established in the year 2005. The second branch is located in Utawala Estate along the Eastern Bypass and was started in the August 2016. We are in the process of opening a 3rd branch in Kathwana, Tharaka Nithi County.

Employers and prospective health workers discuss employment norms at Nairobi’s Employers Forum

At the forum, held under the aegis of the Afya Elimu Fund, employers from five County Public Service Boards representing five counties, faith based health facilities, health service delivery non-governmental organizational  and the private health facilities, offered advice to the prospective employees on how to approach prospective employers and how to make themselves competitive in the job market. The employers also offered career guidance on how to become successful employees in the health sector. The five counties represented include Kiambu, Kitui, Makueni, Muranga and Nairobi.

Kitui County Department Of Public Services Job Vacancies

Kitui County Public Service Board (CPSB) is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012 pursuant to Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Section 59 of the County Governments Act 2012 outlines the functions of the CPSB among them being “appoint persons to hold or act in offices of the county public service including in the Boards of cities and urban areas within the county and to confirm appointments”. Pursuant to the above constitutional and legal provision, Kitui CPSB invites applications from qualified persons to be considered for the positions below:

Afya Elimu Lake Basin Employers and Resource Mobilization Forum

The speakers selected broke down the requirements for getting a job in the public and private sector and advised the over 30 students in attendance to comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and ensure they have the requisite documentation at hand to aid their job search. The documents mentioned included; council/board practicing license, certificate of good conduct and, tax compliance certificates from Kenya Revenue Authority and HELB. This was to enable them beat the short deadlines for making job applications.

Makueni County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service. In order to strengthen the capacity of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per Article 176 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Sections 45, 50 and 51 of the County Governments Act 2012.

KMTC Graduation

Afya Elimu Fund celebrates more health workers for HIV service delivery as the Kenya Medical Training College graduated more than 8500 students on its 85th Annual Graduation Ceremony at the KMTC Graduation Square, Nairobi on 7th December 2017. Over 8,500 KMTC students converged at the KMTC Graduation square, Nairobi where they were conferred with various certificates and diplomas. Among them were beneficiaries of the Afya Elimu Fund which continues to increase the number of beneficiaries every year.

Afya Elimu beneficiaries take part in the Standard Chartered “Seeing Is Believing” Marathon

Afya Elimu beneficiaries, Human Resources for Health (HRH) Kenya Mechanism and HELB staff participated in the 15th edition of the Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) marathon held in Nairobi on 26 November 2017. AEF beneficiaries from KMTC, Nairobi braved the chilly morning weather to participate in the marathon. Seeing is Believing is Standard Chartered Bank‘s global initiative aimed at tackling avoidable blindness and visual impairment. The bank collaborates with International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and leading eye care organizations and raises funds for investment in eye care projects that have long-term impact in areas of high need.

Loan Program Brings Peace of Mind to Kenya’s Aspiring Frontline Health Workers – The Story of Mercy Wangui Kariuki

“The tender care and support that I received from nurses and other health workers during those critical moments of my illness made me develop the desire to care,” she said at the launch event for the Afya Elimu Fund, a low-interest student loan program that helps aspiring frontline health workers afford the schooling they need and address Kenya’s health workforce shortage.

The Afya Elimu Fund is a joint venture between IntraHealth International’s FUNZOKenya project, the Higher Education Loans Board, and the Kenya Healthcare Federation. Other partners include the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Planning and Devolution, as well as local private-sector contributors including the Family Group Foundation, The I&M Bank and The Ratansi Educational Trust.

Imelda Achieng Wants to Find a Cure for HIV for Her Mum

Homa Bay County, Kenya, where Imelda comes from, has the highest HIV prevalence in Kenya. The Kenya AIDS Indicator Survey of 2014 estimates that over 25% of the one million residents here are HIV-positive. The national prevalence, according to the same report, is 6%. Imelda is now among 9,000 medical students in Kenya benefitting from the Afya Elimu Fund.
